TRABIS stands for the “.tr” Network Information System. This system enables the operation and updating of the central database of domain names with .tr extension and their ownership, the creation and monitoring of whois, and the real-time processing of domain name application transactions.

It is the institution that regulates and supervises the telecommunications sector in Türkiye.

ICTA/BTK is authorized to make the regulations it deems necessary, to inspect Registrars and DRSP/UÇHS within the framework of the legislation, and to impose the necessary administrative sanctions, including termination of Registrar and DRSP/UÇHS activities.

It is the party that mediates the transactions related to domain names such as application, renewal, and cancellation. METUnic has completed TRABIS accreditation and handles .tr domain transactions as a registrar.

It is defined as a party that conducts the dispute resolution process related to domain names through Panelists.

It is the list of domain names whose registration is restricted by the registry for various reasons (historical or cultural values, values that belong to the public, etc.) and for which documents are requested during the application.

After your online domain name application and payment, your domain name will be displayed under the title of “Domain Name Applications with .tr Extension Pending Documents” in your control panel within ten (10) minutes at the latest. You can submit your documents by clicking the “Upload Document” button on the right side of your domain name, which will be in the “Open” tab.

You can view the status of your application on the “Pending .tr Domain Name Applications Awaiting Documents” tab after logging in to your control panel. The evaluation is carried out by the authorized registry TRABIS.

Documented domain name applications are evaluated by the registry TRABIS, not by the registrar. You must upload your documents within two (2) days of your application; the documents are evaluated and the domain name is approved and activated within fifteen (15) business days.

Documented applications are evaluated by the registry TRABIS, not by the registrar.

You should make sure that the extension you want to buy is suitable for domain name registration and usage purposes. In certified domain names, not every extension is allocated to all kinds of organizations. For example, as a commercial company, it is not possible to get a domain name with the gov.tr extension allocated to government agencies. In addition, after determining the appropriate extension, you should make sure that you have the necessary documents for the registration of this domain name.

Yes, they can. You can apply for a domain name by logging in with your username on the metunic.com.tr page and clicking the “Place Order” tab. You can allocate a domain name by filling in the required information correctly and completely.

The first and foremost principle in all kinds of domain name registration is the “first come, first served” principle. If you believe that you have the right to use a domain name or that your trademark/name is being used, you can file an objection to the official institutions (court) if the domain name was allocated with a document, or to the authorized dispute mechanism if it was allocated without a document after September 14, 2022.

To get your domain name active, make sure that you’ve purchased server services, pointed your domain name to those servers, and created a website that will provide content for your domain name. Registering a domain name is just one of the things you need to have an active website.

Domain names that have not been paid for will be paused for two (2) months after the payment deadline has passed. At the end of two (2) months, they are automatically deleted by the TRABIS (.tr registry authority) system.
After the deletion, no new registration can be made to the relevant domain name for one (1) month. The information that this domain name is opened for registration is published on the TRABIS website (opens in a new tab) for one (1) month after deletion.

It is sufficient to scan or photograph your documents and submit them in PDF or JPEG format. Physical documents are not accepted.

.bbs.tr is one of the undocumented domain extensions: no documents are required during application and registration, and there is no user restriction. To register:

1. Type the name you want with the .bbs.tr extension (e.g. example.bbs.tr) into the search box on the homepage and click Search.
2. If the domain is available, add it to your cart; log in to your customer account or create a new one.
3. Complete the payment; your domain is registered in your name through TRABIS.

If the name you apply for is on the Restricted Names List (TAKIL) or the Closed Names List (TAKAL), TRABIS may request documents under the ICTA (BTK) document Procedures and Principles on Restricted Domain Names (opens in a new tab); in that case a Declaration Form is submitted. .bbs.tr is a second-level domain intended for institutions and organizations that provide BBS (Bulletin Board System) services.

TAKIL is the name TRABIS gives to its “Restricted Domain Names” list. Because of the terms contained in a domain name, TRABIS may request documents when it deems necessary under the ICTA (BTK) document Procedures and Principles on Restricted Domain Names (opens in a new tab).

After applying for a domain name on the TAKIL list, you need to submit documents supporting the domain name (trademark certificate, tax certificate, activity certificate, registry certificate, trade name in the Turkish Trade Registry Gazette, etc.) and a declaration (petition). If you do not have these documents, you may upload images of the declaration and your Turkish ID card to the system and wait for TRABIS's evaluation.

You can submit your documents via the “Upload Document” link next to the domain name under “Services → Pending .tr Domain Name Operations” in your control panel. The “Upload Document” button becomes active within 10 minutes after your payment. Evaluation of documented domain name applications may take up to 15 business days, depending on the TRABIS workflow and workload.
